Status

Production etches are about to be ordered and the patterns for the casting are having moulds made now in mid April. Parts for the gearbox are proving elusive at the moment. Due to some delays the first kits reserved will be shipped in late May.

The first pilot model is here and will next be at Porthmadog, 7mm NGA and Slim Gauge shows.

All being well the second pilot model as Gelert in lined black livery will also be at those shows

More Details & Pictures

EDM Models in association with In Scale Models of South Africa are pleased to be able to announce their first 7mm scale Narrow Gauge locomotive kit.

The locomotive is a Bagnall 0-4-2 as supplied to the Rustenberg Platinum Mines of which several survive to this day. The kit is based on details taken from the preserved example Jack shown in the heading photograph.

Two of these engines exist today on the Welsh Highland Railway in North Wales

  • Bagnall wks no 3023 Moel Tryfan [Un-restored and possibly sold on]
  • Bagnall wks No 3050, Gelert. [Operational]

The Model

The model is mostly etched brass with castings in resin and whitemetal.

Wheels, gears and motor are required to complete but we envisage making an `extras' pack available for those who require them. The model can be built for 16.5mm or 14mm gauge and takes either the cosmetic prototype coupler or a Kadee.

Availability

26 of the first batch of 30 are now reserved. There have been some slight delays with the casting {mainly getting them from SA to the UK} so we will now be shipping the first kits in early June.

The extras kit will contain Gibson wheels, EDM Crankpins, and EDM custom gearbox and Mashima Motor for thirty five pounds.

The Small Print
  • The amount added when ordering is not the cost of the kit. It is a token amount so we can use the shopping cart system to record your interest.

  • The RtR version of the engine is to canvas interest. They would be made to individual specifications and the cost would depend on the spec.
