THE
HENMORE DALE LIGHT RAILWAYThis page will develop into the
story of the Henmore Dale Light Railway. It starts here with the map to
the left. Click on it and a larger copy opens in a new window.
The Henmore Dale Light Railway runs from the standard gauge London
and North Western station in Ashbourne through the town, crossing Dig
Street, passing the Mill and Cockayne's Wood Yard to get to the original
terminus at Park Road. From there the main line heads off up the valley
of the river Henmore to get to the stone quarries of north Derbyshire.
This is of course fiction. The railway never existed although it
could have done. We've plotted its route on the ordnance survey maps,
we've been in every pub along the route and met more than one person who
will swear blind they remember it being there! These photos were taken
at our 2007 open day and over time I will add captions to these along
with more photographs. |
