The first kit for 2008 is the Blacksmiths Shop. As this is being posted (March 2008) there are only nine of each available for reservation from EDM Models

Well, here it is, the 2008 Blacksmith Shop in O scale.

As you can see it is loaded with detail. The kit includes everything you see except the track and the dirt. This is quite a departure from the kits I've been producing, in that it is more craftsman style  kit.

Lotsa wood, loads of castings and dripping with character. This is no plywood box covered with stripwood. The walls are framed with 2x6's and covered with individual boards.

To much work you say?

Not at all, it's actually incredibly easy. All the horizontal framing members are laser cut and notched to for scale 2x6's. Along with pages of detail drawings, are construction drawings for each side. Simply tape them to your workbench, cover with wax paper, lay the horizontal pieces over the drawing and drop in the 2x6's. You'll have a perfectly framed wall in minutes! 

 There are so many exciting features on this one kit, I could go on and on....you'll just have to see it.

Delivery Note

When we first advertised this one the Stoney Creek website intimated it would be available at a show in the US in early April.

Only when I enquired as to progress with the kit Roger and I discover that his website was misleading.

In a case of "I know what I meant, even if that's not what it actually said", that meant the pilot model would be on display.

The kits are on target to be available after the NG Convention in Portland and in the UK during October.
