Welcome to the first issue
for November issue of our Newsletter.
I have been working on a bumper issue but its not made much progress and
has been overtaken a bit by the need for an urgent release so this will
be pretty much a single issue newsletter and will be followed up later
with another issue.

The K27 with the inboard slanted cylinders is the next release from

What do we mean by Inboard Cylinders?
Inboard Cylinder
Version
Outboard Cylinder Version
Note that the outside edge of the loco
cylinders appear to slope in towards the top.
On the outboard
version the cylinders appear to slope outwards towards the
top
Referring to the cylinders
as inboard or outboard is actually a misnomer. On both the engines the
cylinders are "outside" in that they are outside of the loco's
mainframes. The inboard / outboard actually refers to the centre line of
the valve chests. In laymen's terms that is the upper smaller diameter
circle on the front of the cylinder/valve casting.
On the left hand engine the
centreline of the valve chest is closer to the boiler, or inboard, than
the centre line of the cylinder represented by the lower circle. On the
right hand engine its further away from the boiler or outboard
I have done a potted history of the K27's which you can download
using this button.
These are the exhibitions we will be
attending in the near future.

Open Days
Just a quick note
on the Bradford and TVG open days in the next three months. I
just want to make it clear that these aren't exhibitions in the
sense that you come along and watch layouts being operated by
others. These are hands on open days. There will be layouts,
demonstrations and traders but you might just find yourself
operating one of the layouts or having a go on one of the demo's
You are encouraged
to bring your own stuff along to show us and to give it a run.
If you have a model you are proud of bring it along to show us.
Both events feature
seating areas, copious tea and coffee supplies [even if you end
up making your own] so you can sit around and chat about your
models with your fellow modellers. Biscuit type snacks are
available at both events and larger meals are possible. If you
let David know in advance [see the web page for details] you
join us for pie and peas, at the TVG event the hall is handy for
the chippy, Chinese, bakers, Tesco's and two pubs.
Do come along and join in
