Unless you hear
differently EDM Models/NGTrains will close on 25th
July and will be closed until the end of September.
In the
eight years that I have been running EDM Models as
well as the day job we have got away with minimal
clashes of interest so I guess it was only a matter
of time before our luck ran out. If the plans
actually come to pass I will be spending August and
September in Wellington, New Zealand working on
power supply upgrade plans for the local railways.
Its not
a dead cert, I've been lined up for many more trips
than ever come off, but this time the client,
Ontrack [Think Network Rail with a funny accent],
has the budget approved and is preparing for my
visit. I think this one will happen but the dates
might alter a bit. Normally I would be annoyed at a
project getting in the way of EDM and have just
fought of an attempt at getting me a long secondment
to Selhurst but I've never been to NZ and the
opportunity with someone else paying is too good to
be missed.
What's going to happen?
When we
have gone away before its been for three weeks at
the most and we've left the website up and active so
that it can take orders and then dealt with them
when we get back. I think this absence is too long
for that to work so I will replace the web pages
with holding pages bit with the order buttons
disabled. The phone wont get answered either and it
won't take messages.
Deliveries
Several
projects are due to arrive during this period. Some
are ones that should have been here already but are
running late, others are ones that are due but may
well miss the closure. In all cases I am making the
suppliers aware of the absence and making
arrangements with each of them to get the items here
when we return and then sent out to customers.
Orders
If you
mail in an order, or you place an internet order
that I don't get shipped before I go they will be
dealt with in the order they were received when we
get back.
E-mails
I am
not sure what connections for personal/EDM e-mails I
will have when I am in NZ. I don't doubt I will be
able to collect them but answering them may not be a
top priority whilst there. I am tempted to add a
blog page to the website.
Re-opening
As the
dates for the return part of the trip are no more
precise than "around the third week of September" I
will announce the re-opening in a newsletter and put
the website back online. Doubtless there will be a
mountain of mail to deal with when I get back so
please be patient whilst we plough through it all
Validity
There are no special offers in this
issue with an end date for the offer. Instead you need to be
aware that to stand a chance of getting any in stock items you
may order as a result of this newsletter we will need your order
here well in advance of the closure detailed above.
Yes I know..........
that I forgot to change the title on
the announcing e-mail from April to July. I spotted it as I
pressed the send button.

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway
- 2-6-2t Locomotives
The big news for this issue has to
be the news that we have acquired the 7mm Narrow Gauge
Lynton and Barnstaple loco kits previously offered by
Alan Gibson. These kits are to a scale of 7mm/foot and
can be built for 16.5mm or 14mm gauge.
We plan to test build some of
these over the summer with a view to refreshing a kit
first offered twenty years ago and then issue the kits
in the autumn. There are two kits, on for the original
trio Yeo, Exe and Taw and another for the later built
Lew.
Rather than repeat all the info
here go have a look at the page dedicated to these
models on the main website.
Special Offer
Not a news special but I should
mention that if you order one in advance and support us
with this project we are offering a special price. See
the main page

Hopefully the reintroduction of
these kits will be just the start of a small range of
L&B items
L&B Parts
We already have the castings used
in the L&B engines available. They are listed here
