Designed to accommodate our 20' frame, this free-lanced, logging flat car is typical of many such cars used on short line narrow gauge railroads in the first half of the twentieth century. This kit is designed to look like a flat car that has been converted to haul logs through the addition of steel log bunks to its deck. It can be modified to suit your tastes, with a choice of needle beams, buffer blocks, truss rod nut/washers, and whether or not the original stake pockets were scavenged when the car was converted to haul logs. Also note that the brake staff on flat cars is easily removable (from the ratchet and pawl up), so it can be safely stowed when loaded with logs. While there is no prototype for this particular car (though the arrangement follows WSLCo. practice), it was designed and built following standard building practices of the day.
