RGS House At The End Of The Trestle

A precision laser cut kit of the House at the Trestle on the old Rio Grande Southern Railroad at Ophir Colorado. This little house will fit into many different scenes even though the original was located on the RGS. The kit includes peel and stic windows and doors, pre-cut window glazing.

This building was and still is located in Ophir Colorado on the old Rio Grande Southern. Today the building has been renovated and turned into a residence and gift shop. The kit is laser cut basswood and includes a masonry foundation cast in hydrocal plaster. The windows have an adhesive backing to allow glue free application of the glazing.

Ridgway Yard Structures

This laser cut kit includes 7 buildings. This kit is an assortment of yard buildings found around the Ridgway Colorado yard on the RGS but could be found in just about any railroad yard. A combination of board and batt, corrugated metal and steel sided buildings add a lot of interest to this set of railroad yard out buildings. A great addition to any railroad yard!

Kit includes all of the buildings shown: the paint shop, boiler house, an outhouse, storage shed 1, the gas house, the blacksmith shop and storage shed 2.

Vance Junction Section House

C&S Baker Water Tank

A precision laser cut kit of the water tank at Baker on the Boreas Pass Line. The tank was originally located at the west end of Alpine Tunnel and when operations through the tunnel ceased, the tank was moved to the Boreas Pass line. The kit includes templates for building the support structure and for building the spout mechanism. The kit tank consists of a one piece wood wrapper and centre core, white metal hardware from our own patterns, peel and stic tank bands, strip wood for the supports, and laser cut frost box and "X" bracing. True to prototype we even cut the notches in the cross beams for the tank timbers and legs.

WSLCo Cat Repair Shed

This kit is designed from drawings done by Art Kauppi of the Cat/Truck repair facility from Camp 45 on the West Side Lumber Co. in California. The kit is all laser cut plywood and includes full interior timbering to allow you to detail the interior to the utmost!! The photos speak for the kit, it is easy to build and will fill a spot on not only your logging line but any railroad. This is a two or three evening project. The photos show our S scale kit, the HO being exactly the same in construction. The footprint is 51' wide by 42' deep.

Figures and vehicles not included though easily obtainable. The S kit does include a pack of barrels and crates.

The Best 60 crawlers are available from Rio Grande Models, the D8 is from PBL, the figures from "Fun & Games", and the truck is from Ertl. Search the NMRA site for their web sites. Model built by Bill Banta

Cimarron 1 Mine

Laser cut wood kit features several templates and fixtures to speed assembly. Board and batten siding is laser cut and has an adhesive backing. The head frame house includes the head assembly for a semi-finished interior and also includes the head frame wheel. Several ladders are included so the crew has a way to get around the mine and tipple. Altogether a really great kit!

The real stunner to this one is the porch railing. All laser cut with peel and stick components to speed assembly! Includes cast brick foundations.

Silverton Depot

Ore Tram Buckets NEW!

These kits are white metal kits and easy to build. The S kit (top) represents a 5 foot wide bucket, the O kit (bottom) is a 3.5 foot bucket. Ore buckets came in a variety of sizes from 3 foot wide to 6 ft and larger. the alert observer will note that both buckets are the same, true, but the one set of patterns when cast will work well for both scales, a savings of time on our part, but a great addition to your railroad no matter the scale. An HO version will follow in a few months (we couldn't get away with using this larger version for HO)

Our research included the many RGS books, the Mineral Belt Series and the Rainbow Route all published by Sundance Publications. The variety of ore buckets is considerable when you look at the mines in Colorado you would think that maybe 2 or 3 types were actually used but we found more than 10 different types. Further research into the Colorado School of Mines was not done though the material they have is immense. The design came from a drawing in an old mine supply catalogue.
