A change in circumstances in February 2018 has resulted in a revision of our standard terms with regard to production and shipping.  These terms will be in effect from 07/02/2018 to the launch of our new website the launch of which will result in a further revision

Much of the kits listed are produced to order and whilst we try to keep a small number in stock. However, we regularly attend model shows at weekends and these tend to clear the stock. This may well mean your model will be produced in response to your order.

Where this is applicable to your order of 28 days  from ordering will apply by defaultbut will advise by e-mail with details of your actual order

The cost of postage is the curse of the mail order business as most customers think that realistic prices are a rip off as they rarely send chunky items by post.  Many traders offer post free shipping with orders above a certain value but this can’t be true, you’re paying for that postage somewhere as the Post Office doesn’t start delivering for free when you take a big package to them. Having thought about the best way to add postage to orders and to keep item prices competitive we have decided on the following policy: -

  • Standard UK Delivery

This is the default shipping for all UK orders. We ship using APC Carriers and whilst the shipping is branded as next day this only applies to when it was sent. We do not offer a guaranteed next day service. This is impractical for a one man operation. We do aim to ship as soon as it practical.

APC will require a signature on delivery.   APC will not follow instructions such as "leave in the porch" or "put it in the recycling bin except on Tuesdays"

  • Book, Magazine & Small Order shipping

Some items single copies of books and magazine are identified as "postage @ £3" Other items may ship at this amount at our discression.  Hard and fast rule are difficult but the items when packed with appropriate packaging be under the Royal Mail guidlines for weight and size for Large Letter Rate..

There are a couple of other factors to consider: -

  • We will not repackage items to squeeze them under the size/weight restrictions
  • Shipping by this method can be several days slower.  Our default carrier APC collect daily as required. This method requires a trip to the Post Office that cannot decide whether its a Post Office or a Grocery Shop.  We don't go every day unless there is a lot for that route. One or two times a week is more usual.

The current website is nearly impossible to sort the shipping on definitively. For a simple guidance - if it doesnt say the shipping is less than £6 that's what it will be then you can feel chuffed if you get it for less.

  • Large & Special Items UK

Occassionaly a model will be extra heavy, more valuable than the insurance cover available with the standard shipping or a peculiar size. As soon as you get into "None Standard" for shipping it gets expensive. This hasnt happened very often but if its neccessary it'll be discussed with a customer before any charges are made.

  • Track Shipping

A UK order for track in yard lengths will attract a seperate £6 shipping charge to that for other items, or just one if track is all that is ordered. This is because we have had to have custom track shipping boxes made, have to ship it as a seperate item and have to use the courier as the Post Office whine about the length.

We have looked to do it cheaper anf failed and find that customers object to having their track folded

  • International Items

International items are charged at cost for the shipping and packaging. Items of value will be shipped by an insured service either Royal Mail Airsure - Tracked & Signed for (in countries that participate) or one of the International Carriers such as DHL (usually booked vai Parcel2Go.com).

Low value and easily replaced items may ship by cheaper uninsured and untracked means at our discretion.

You really can't win with international shipping. The customer objects to paying for the insured and tracked service as its expensive for them but expects us to stand the cost of replacing items that don't show up with isnt sustainable for us.
